Apodasmia similis, also known as Oioi or Jointed Wire Rush, is a plant that is endemic to New Zealand. Typically a coastal plant found around wetlands. Apodasmia similis is an important plant for our native fish because it provides good inanga (whitebait) spawning habitat. It is one of the dominant plants that grow along the edges of tidal rivers and lakes and on damp flats in sand dunes It is found throughout New Zealand on the edges of tidal rivers and lakes and on damp flats in sand. It is also found around peat bogs and hot springs.
